Those working in construction jobs are to welcome news that better-than-expected economic results have been put down to their workforce.
Figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have shown that improvements within construction recruitment and the sector in general have helped to boost national income figures.
Experts had previously estimated that the economy would shrink by 0.7 per cent in the second quarter of this year, however the actual percentage was 0.6.
"At least the consumer sector appears to be on a firmer footing ... But [the saving rate] is still well below its long-run average and we think the consumer adjustment has further to go," said Capital Economics' Vicky Redwood.
The Confederation of British Industry also released positive figures from the retail industry yesterday (September 29th) and the ONS revised previous estimates of household expenditure upwards.
However, despite the emergence of the first signs of recovery in the UK, the ONS statistics highlight that today's economy is still 5.5 per cent worse than it was in the second quarter of 2008.
